Role Overview:
We are looking for a highly organised and detail-focused Stock Controller to join our clients team in Leek. In this role, you will be responsible for managing inventory, maintaining stock accuracy, and ensuring seamless warehouse operations. Success in this position requires excellent communication, strong organisational abilities, and adaptability in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee and coordinate all activities related to goods preparation, storage, receipt, and dispatch
- Support the Operations Planner with stock management, material replenishment, and canning operations
- Collaborate with Production and Logistics teams to provide a flexible and responsive resource
- Assist the production team in achieving and maintaining Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) targets
- Assess and develop the skills and competencies of the stores team
- Manage workload priorities and schedules
- Identify training needs in collaboration with the senior stores operative
- Lead and implement change initiatives effectively
- Serve as a key user for SAP and labelling systems
- Ensure safe handling and proper disposal of hazardous waste materials
- Maintain control over warehouses, on-site storage bays, and off-site stock
- Assist the Operations team with regulatory compliance, including Permit to Work (PTW) and incident control responsibilities
- Investigate QHSE incidents/near misses in the stores/yard area, implementing corrective actions using Root Cause Analysis
- Ensure the safe operation of FLTs and manage service provider liaison
- Ensure compliance with Transport/ADR regulations
- Create and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and risk assessments
- Conduct regular audits to ensure compliance with quality policies and procedures
- Ensure that warehouse, loading, and canning equipment are fit for purpose
- Oversee and manage third-party transport contractors on-site
About You:
- Knowledge of ISO9001 or equivalent quality standards
- NEBOSH certification
- IMDG/IATA qualification is preferred but not essential
- Strong communication skills at all levels, both internal and external
- Exceptional organisational skills and high attention to detail
- Proficient in IT with experience in business systems (e.g. SAP) and software packages (Outlook, Excel, Word, Entropy, and Planet)
