About the Role:
We are seeking experienced Steel Fixers/Joiners to join our team for substation projects. The ideal candidates will have a proven track record in steel fixing and joinery, with the necessary qualifications to work on National Grid sites. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to critical infrastructure projects in a fast-paced, professional environment.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Position and secure steel reinforcement bars or reinforcement steel mesh to reinforce concrete structures.
  • Read and interpret reinforcement plans/drawings and reinforcement schedules.
  • Set out the work from drawings
  • Cut and bend steel bars or mesh to the required length/shape using bolt cutters, guillotines, or power saws.
  • Assemble reinforcing bars or mesh using the correct tying wire in predetermined locations prior to concrete pours.
  • Fabricate steel reinforcement such as beams, pile caps, columns, or special units.
  • Use jigs to join prefabricated units together for large sections of high-rise or civil projects.
  • Position reinforcement ready for concrete pours.

Requirements:

  • Demonstrated ability to work in a construction environment.
  • Proficient in using hand and power tools.
  • Ability to lift and handle heavy objects.
  • Competent at performing routine manual labor tasks.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Proven ability to understand and execute written and verbal instructions.
  • Ability to work in a team.
  • Demonstrated ability to work outdoors.
  • CSCS Skilled Worker Card (Blue).
  • Understanding of and ability to interpret drawings (both paper and 3D models).
  • Abrasive Wheels certification.
  • Working at Heights Training (Scissor Lift / IPAF / Harness Training).
