Duties:
Site Engineer
The Role:
Reporting to the Site Agent, the Site Engineer will take ownership of the survey control for the project and set out detailed works as per the contract drawings, ensuring that checks are made on a regular basis.
Key Responsibilities:
Key Accountability and Responsibilities
- Promote safe working cultures and practices.
- Offer technical advice on a construction site for subcontractors, craftspeople, and operatives.
- Manage the site and parts of construction projects.
- Oversee building work and ensure the quality of the work.
- Set out, level, and survey the site.
- Produce 2-week look-ahead schedules in conjunction with the Site Agent.
- Produce site diaries and allocation sheets.
- Create ITP check sheets in line with the ITP and specifications.
- Ensure that the plans, drawings, and quantities are accurate for calculations.
- Supervise site security, health, and safety.
- Organise and oversee material and human resources.
- Manage the design documents supplied by the client.
- Set out detailed works as per the contract drawings, ensuring checks are carried out regularly.
- Liaise with local authorities to ensure compliance with local construction regulations and by-laws.
- Report progress and other updates to clients.
- Plan the work efficiently and adapt to any setbacks or difficulties.
- Resolve any unexpected technical difficulties and other problems that may arise.
- Ensure work is delivered defect/snag-free.
Collaborative Working
- Work collaboratively with the client and wider project delivery team, ensuring effective and timely communications.
- Proactively manage the expectations of the client.
Audit and Governance
- Comply with governance as set out by the client.
- Work with the wider team and client audit team to ensure all documentation is available for audits as required.
- Demonstrate compliance to ensure scores remain in the upper quartile.
Key Measures and Targets
- Accurate and timely setting out of works.
- Timely handover of works and quality records without outstanding defects.
- Production of accurate records, drawing registers, and weekly diaries.

Person Specification:
The successful candidate is likely to meet all of the following criteria:
Essential
- Experience setting out on Civil Engineering projects.
- Knowledge of construction methods, health and safety, and legal regulations.
- Specific experience with drainage, earthworks, structures, and water.
- CSCS Card.
- Cable avoidance training.
- Self-driven, results-oriented with a positive outlook.
- Able to communicate well at all levels.
Desirable
- Some experience with AutoCAD.
- Temporary works coordination.
- Degree qualified in civil engineering or HNC or equivalent in civil engineering as a minimum.
- NEBOSH or IOSH.
