Duties:

Machine Operator

You will play a crucial role in our processing operations. Your primary responsibility will be to operate and maintain various saws, ensuring accurate and efficient cutting of materials to meet production requirements.

Our client is a large UK based organisation who supply a large range of customers across a varied supply chain, they deliver to the whole of the UK and Ireland from their Shrewsbury Headquarters with additional locations in. You will be working from our Shrewsbury site as part of an experienced warehouse team, cutting and preparing materials to customer specifications.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Set up and operate sawing equipment to cut aluminium and stainless steel according to specifications.
  • Read and interpret work orders, blueprints, and technical drawings to determine cutting requirements.
  • Select appropriate saw blades, adjust cutting speeds, and position materials for precise cuts.
  • Monitor sawing operations to ensure accuracy, quality, and adherence to safety protocols.
  • Perform routine maintenance on saws, including blade changes, lubrication, and adjustments.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve minor mechanical issues to minimise downtime.
  • Inspect finished cuts for defects, accuracy, and compliance with quality standards.
  • Maintain inventory of cutting tools and consumables, ensuring adequate supply levels.
  • Follow all safety procedures and maintain a clean and organised work area.
  • Collaborate with team members to optimise production efficiency and meet deadlines.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience as a Machine Operator or a similar role is highly preferred.
  • Proficient in operating and maintaining various types of saws used for cutting aluminium and stainless steel.
  • Familiarity with reading and interpreting blueprints, technical drawings, and work orders.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to perform accurate measurements.
  • Knowledge of safety protocols and best practices in an industrial setting.
  • Mechanical aptitude with the ability to troubleshoot and resolve minor equipment issues.
  • Excellent organisational skills and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Flexibility to work rotating shifts, including early mornings and late evenings,
  • Physical stamina and strength to lift heavy materials and operate machinery safely.
  • Experience of operating Counter Balance and Reach Fork Lift Trucks is desirable not essential.
  • Must be able to work fortnightly rotating shifts - see below.

2-week Shift Rotation

  • Week 1 & Week 2 - Monday - Friday 6.00am to 2:30pm inclusive of an unpaid 30 minute break
  • Week 3 & Week 4 - Monday - Thursday 12.00pm to 22.30pm inclusive of a 30 minute unpaid break
  • 40 Hours per week, Temporary to Permanent Position
