A fantastic specialist school in Wakefield is seeking a talented graduate in Speech & Language Therapy (or a related field) to join their support team as a Graduate Speech & Language Therapy Assistant. In this role, you'll work closely with SEN learners to help develop their language acquisition and phonics skills, while gaining valuable networking opportunities with Speech & Language Therapists and other professionals.

Graduate Speech & Language Therapy Assistant – Candidate Specification:

  • A 2:1 degree or higher in Linguistics, Psychology, Speech & Language Therapy, Education, or a related field

  • A strong understanding of phonics, literacy development, and language acquisition

  • Passionate about working with children with speech and communication difficulties

  • Excellent communication skills, with a patient and nurturing approach

  • Previous experience working with young people (e.g., tutoring, mentoring, voluntary work) is desirable, but not essential

Graduate Speech & Language Therapy Assistant – Job Role:

  • Full-time, long-term role, Monday to Friday, 8:30 AM – 3:30 PM, term-time only

  • Support SEN pupils with speech, language, and communication difficulties

  • Assist with phonics and literacy interventions, helping children with early language development

  • Provide 1:1 and small-group support, boosting children’s confidence in their communication skills

  • Work alongside teachers, SENCOs, and Speech & Language Therapists to create tailored strategies

  • Gain valuable experience working with students who have EHCPs (Education, Health & Care Plans)
