We are looking for a dedicated Graduate SEN Teaching Assistant to join a secondary school in Birmingham with a newly created 'pathway space' in their SEN hub. As a Graduate SEN Teaching Assistant, you will have the opportunity to play a pivotal role in supporting students with SEN, helping them grow academically, emotionally, and socially.

Graduate SEN Teaching Assistant – Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide 1:1 and small group support to students with SEN as a Graduate SEN Teaching Assistant
  • Assist students in overcoming academic and personal challenges
  • Help implement behavioural strategies and promote emotional development
  • Collaborate with teachers and SEN specialists to create individualised learning plans for students
  • Promote positive behaviour, social, and emotional growth as a Graduate SEN Teaching Assistant
  • Monitor and report on students' progress to teachers and parents
  • Help manage students' emotional needs using psychology-based approaches
  • Work in the 'pathway space', providing a tailored environment for students as a Graduate SEN Teaching Assistant

Graduate SEN Teaching Assistant – What We’re Looking For:

  • 2:1 degree or higher in Psychology or a related field
  • Previous experience in an educational setting or with SEN students is desirable but not essential
  • A genuine passion for working with students with Special Educational Needs
  • Strong understanding of psychological principles and how they can be applied in education
  • Patience, empathy, and excellent communication skills
  • Proactive attitude and desire to support students' development
  • Interest in pursuing a career in SEN education, psychology, or educational psychology
