Location: Newark, Nottinghamshire – NG24 1AD

Start date: Immediate

Hours: 8:30AM – 4:00PM Mon – Friday

Graduate SEN Teaching Assistant – Candidate Specification

  • A degree (2:1 or higher preferred) in Psychology, Education, Special Educational Needs, or a related field.
  • A patient, empathetic, and nurturing personality with a passion for working with children with additional needs.
  • Previous experience working with young people (e.g., SEN support, youth work, tutoring, or care work) is desirable but not essential.
  • A strong ability to build positive relationships with students, offering encouragement and tailored support.
  • An adaptable and proactive approach to helping children engage with their learning in a way that suits their individual needs.

Graduate SEN Teaching Assistant – Job Description

  • Full-time, long-term Graduate SEN Teaching Assistant role
  • Earn up to £540 per week.
  • Support children with a range of additional needs, including Autism (ASC), PMLD, speech and language difficulties, and sensory processing disorders.
  • Provide 1:1 and small-group interventions to help children develop key social, communication, and academic skills.
  • Work closely with experienced SEN teachers and therapists, learning valuable skills in behaviour management and differentiation.
  • Assist in creating a calm, structured, and inclusive learning environment where all students feel safe and supported.
  • Gain specialist SEN training and hands-on experience that will prepare you for a career in SEN education, psychology, or therapy.
  • Monday to Friday, 8:30 AM – 3:30 PM – term-time only.

It is an SEN independent school based in Nottingham (NG8) which helps assists students with profound and multiple learning disabilities (PMLD), this will involve Students which have profound learning disabilities, meaning they struggle with hearing, speaking and moving.

This school provides constant support to students with various disabilities within a small classroom setting, while providing high quality teaching and learning while delivering it through a dynamic, engaging and meaningful curriculum.
