  • Graduate SEN Teaching Assistant
  • Core Subject or Psychology graduates welcome to apply
  • Must have minimum 2:1 degree to apply
  • Working within ASD, SEMD and Speech and Language
  • 5 roles available for Graduate SEN Teaching Assistants

  • Earn up £600 per week as a Graduate Teaching Assistant
  • SEN School graded “Good” by Ofsted

The role

The role of a Graduate SEN Teaching Assistant involves establishing a learning environment that recognises the difficulties that SEN students may face.  SEN teaching assistants generally have more time to form bonds with pupils during one-on-one learning.

  • Organize outside-the-classroom learning activities, which include sports and/or school outings
  • Work with fellow SEN teaching assistants to identify specific needs of each child
  • Make use of some ‘eye-catching’ instruments like computers to arouse interest in learning by children
  • Work hand-in-hand with the classroom teachers to ensure that activities that are being put in place for children are related to national curriculum
  • Work closely with other professionals like educational psychologists or physiotherapists
  • Teach and mentor students, both collectively and individually
  • Look after children’s social and emotional needs
  • Communicate with students to determine their needs and ensure they are equally met
  • Observe children to find out changes in behaviour or in other areas and report such observations to the classroom teacher
  • Help children in personal care, such as hygiene and clothing.
