Graduate Science Teaching Assistant – What You’ll Be Doing:
As a Graduate Science Teaching Assistant, your role will include:
- Providing 1:1 and small group support to students, helping them understand complex scientific concepts in subjects like biology, chemistry, and physics
- Assisting with lesson planning and delivery, ensuring that all students are actively engaged in the curriculum
- Supporting students during practical science experiments, ensuring they follow safety protocols and helping with hands-on learning
- Assisting students with study skills, revision techniques, and exam preparation to boost academic performance
- Encouraging students to develop critical thinking skills and a passion for scientific inquiry
- Supporting classroom management, helping create an engaging and focused learning environment
- Collaborating closely with the science department and other teaching staff to meet the needs of all students, including those with additional learning needs
Graduate Science Teaching Assistant – What We’re Looking For:
- A 2:1 degree or higher in a science-related subject (biology, chemistry, physics, or similar)
- A genuine passion for science and a desire to inspire students to succeed
- Strong communication skills with the ability to explain complex concepts clearly and effectively
- Previous experience in tutoring or educational support is desirable but not essential
- Patience, empathy, and a flexible approach to meeting the needs of individual students
