A well-established secondary school in Birmingham is seeking a motivated Graduate Psychology Teaching Assistant to join their dedicated team. In this Graduate Psychology Teaching Assistant role, you will play a key part in supporting students' emotional, social, and academic development, applying your knowledge of Psychology to enhance their learning experience.
As a Graduate Psychology Teaching Assistant, you’ll be working closely with students, helping them build essential study skills, manage stress and anxiety, and develop their emotional well-being, alongside supporting classroom learning. This position will give you a deep insight into the educational system, while also allowing you to pursue your passion for Psychology in an impactful and rewarding way.

Key Responsibilities:
- Support students with a range of learning needs, including social, emotional, and behavioral challenges, applying psychological techniques and strategies.
- Help students manage stress and develop coping mechanisms, fostering emotional resilience and well-being.
- Assist teachers in delivering Psychology lessons, ensuring all students feel included and engaged in the subject.
- Provide one-on-one and small group support, encouraging academic growth and enhancing study skills.
- Use your knowledge of child development and psychological theories to make learning accessible and engaging for students.
- Observe students and contribute to assessments of their progress, providing feedback and tailored support.
Key Requirements:
- A 2:1 degree or higher in Psychology or a closely related field.
- A passion for supporting young people and promoting their emotional and psychological well-being.
- Prior experience working with students, whether through tutoring, mentoring, or volunteering (desirable but not essential).
- Strong communication skills and the ability to build trust and rapport with students.
- Empathy, patience, and a proactive attitude to meeting the needs of individual students.
- A genuine desire to pursue a career in education, psychology, or related fields such as mental health or counselling.
- Ability to adapt quickly and work effectively within a team.
