An established Primary School in Wakefield is seeking a dedicated Graduate Primary Teaching Assistant to work with children aged 4-11 who have special educational needs. The school is led by a nurturing Headteacher who is committed to supporting learners with ASD, ADHD, Dyslexia, and other complex learning needs. As a Graduate Primary Teaching Assistant, you will work alongside class teachers to provide tailored support through 1:1 sessions, small-group activities, and whole-class assistance.
Job Specification:
- Full-time Mon-Fri 8:30am-3:30pm
- Work closely with SEN children aged 4-11
- Help support their social, emotional, and academic development to allow them to reach their potential
- Work 1:1, in small-groups, and whole classes to support the needs of SEN children
Ideal Candidate:
- A patient, hardworking Graduate Primary Teaching Assistant from a top UK University with a desire to work with SEN children aged 4-11
- Experience working in school-based settings, with children aged 4-11, or with SEN desirable
- Someone who welcomes being part of a nurturing, dedicated team of friendly, warm staff and students
- Looking for a long-term role lasting at least until the end of the academic year
- Enjoys the prospect of helping children with ASD, ADHD, and other complex SEN thrive
- Available for interview or trial as soon as possible
As a Graduate Primary Teaching Assistant, you will play a pivotal role in fostering an inclusive, supportive environment, ensuring that each child’s unique needs are met. The Primary School is located in a relatively deprived catchment area, with high levels of complex, acute SEN in children across all ages. This challenging environment requires the Graduate Primary Teaching Assistant to demonstrate sensitivity to varying socioeconomic situations and the ability to adapt to changing circumstances. Previous experience working in a School, other Primary-aged setting, or with SEN individuals is desired for this role.
