Graduate Pastoral Teaching Assistant – The Role
- Long-term, full-time Graduate Pastoral Teaching Assistant role
- Up to £530 per week
- Provide pastoral and academic support for students with profound and multiple learning difficulties (PMLD), helping them navigate both their education and personal development.
- Support students in developing life skills and preparing for their transition into adulthood, independent living, and community engagement.
- Assist students with speech and communication needs, working with speech & language therapists, occupational therapists, and educational psychologists to implement tailored support strategies.
- Offer emotional support and create a safe, structured environment where students feel valued and understood.
- Work with students who may require physical and medical assistance, including those in wheelchairs or hospital beds.
- Collaborate with teachers, therapists, and families to ensure the best possible outcomes for each student.
Graduate Pastoral Teaching Assistant – Candidate Requirements
- A 2:1 or higher degree in Psychology, Health & Social Care, Education, or a related subject.
- A genuine passion for supporting young people with SEN and additional needs.
- High levels of resilience, empathy, and emotional intelligence.
- Experience in pastoral support, mentoring, SEN education, or mental health work is highly desirable.
- A driving license and access to a car is beneficial but not essential.
