We are seeking a dynamic and enthusiastic Graduate Humanities Teaching Assistant to join an Outstanding secondary school in Birmingham. Graduate Humanities Teaching Assistant – What You’ll Be Doing:

As a Graduate Humanities Teaching Assistant, you will:

  • Provide one-to-one and small group support to students, helping them with humanities subjects such as history, geography, and social studies
  • Assist teachers with lesson planning and delivery, ensuring all students remain engaged and are able to access the curriculum
  • Help students improve their study skills, essay writing, and exam techniques to boost their academic performance
  • Support students with revision and exam preparation, helping them build confidence and succeed in their assessments
  • Contribute to creating a positive, inclusive, and stimulating learning environment
  • Assist with classroom management, ensuring that lessons are delivered effectively and that all students feel supported
  • Work closely with teachers and the SEN team to provide additional support for students with learning needs
  • Inspire students to develop a passion for the humanities and encourage critical thinking

Graduate Humanities Teaching Assistant – What We’re Looking For:

  • A 2:1 degree or higher in a humanities-related subject (e.g., History, Geography, Sociology)
  • A genuine passion for the humanities and a desire to help students succeed in these subjects
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to build rapport with students
  • Previous experience in tutoring, youth work, or educational support is desirable but not essential
  • Patience, empathy, and a flexible approach to supporting individual student needs
  • A proactive and enthusiastic attitude, with a desire to make a positive impact on students' academic journeys
  • An interest in pursuing a career in education, whether as a teacher or in another educational role
