A respected secondary school in Birmingham is currently seeking a dedicated Graduate English Teaching Assistant to join their supportive team. In this Graduate English Teaching Assistantrole, you will play an essential part in assisting students’ academic development, supporting their English learning, and helping to foster a positive and inclusive classroom atmosphere.
As a Graduate English Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with students of varying abilities, offering one-on-one and group support. You will assist in lesson delivery, help with literacy skills, and encourage students to engage with texts and language in a meaningful way, supporting their academic growth and boosting their confidence.

Graduate English Teaching Assistant Key Responsibilities:
- Support students in developing their reading, writing, and communication skills.
- Assist with English lesson planning and delivery, ensuring that all students are engaged and included.
- Provide tailored support to individuals or small groups, helping them to grasp key concepts and improve their academic performance.
- Foster a love for reading and literature, encouraging students to explore a wide range of texts.
- Help students develop their literacy and critical thinking skills through creative and interactive learning activities.
- Observe students' progress, providing feedback and working closely with teachers to support their academic growth.
Graduate English Teaching Assistant Key Requirements:
- A 2:1 degree or higher in English, English Literature, or a closely related field.
- A genuine passion for English and helping students develop their language and literacy skills.
- Prior experience working with students, either through tutoring, mentoring, or volunteering (desirable but not essential).
- Strong communication skills and the ability to connect with students from diverse backgrounds.
- Patience, empathy, and a proactive approach to supporting individual students’ needs.
- A strong desire to pursue a career in education, teaching, or other related fields such as linguistics or speech therapy.
- Ability to work well within a team and adapt to the school’s needs.
