We are seeking a talented and motivated English graduate to join a vibrant secondary school in Birmingham. As an Academic Mentor, you'll provide invaluable support to students across various year groups, helping them develop both academically and emotionally. English Graduate Academic Mentor – What You’ll Be Doing:
- Supporting students at KS3 and KS4 with their English studies, focusing on reading, writing, and exam preparation.
- Assisting teachers in delivering dynamic lessons and engaging students in literary discussions.
- Offering tailored one-on-one academic support to help students improve their English skills.
- Mentoring students to help boost their confidence, particularly in writing and understanding key texts.
- Helping create a positive and motivating environment for all learners, both in class and through additional support sessions.
- Working closely with the teaching team to track and monitor student progress and provide additional interventions where needed.
English Graduate Academic Mentor – What We’re Looking For:
- A 2:1 degree or higher in English, or a related subject.
- Experience working with students, particularly in a tutoring or mentoring role, is a bonus but not essential.
- A strong passion for English and a genuine interest in inspiring students to engage with literature and language.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to connect with students of various abilities and backgrounds.
- A desire to pursue a career in teaching, with the drive to continue learning and developing as an educator.
- A patient, empathetic, and flexible approach to working with students.
