Role Overview:
We are seeking an experienced and dynamic professional for the position of Associate Director of Clinical Services (Children & Young Adults) to join a leading care provider. This pivotal leadership role offers the opportunity to shape and deliver exceptional care for children and young adults across North Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent.
As a key member of the executive team, the successful candidate will be instrumental in driving innovation, enhancing service provision, and maintaining the highest standards of care for young patients and their families. The role requires strategic collaboration with both internal and external stakeholders to establish the organization as a leading care provider.

Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and oversee the multi-disciplinary teams at the children and young adult care facility, ensuring the delivery of high-quality clinical and holistic care
- Provide strong leadership to the children and young adult services, advocating for best practices with transparency, integrity, and professionalism
- Take responsibility for ensuring the provision of safe, effective, and efficient care while maximizing resource utilization and value
- Ensure the development, implementation, and review of all operational policies and procedures to align with industry best practices
- Manage the financial aspects of care by setting, monitoring, and meeting budgetary targets
- Analyse performance data, preparing activity reports that assess service performance, highlight areas for improvement, and guide decision-making
- Oversee the equitable distribution of work and resources, including managing rotas, ensuring the right skill mix and staff-to-patient ratios, and monitoring staff attendance, including leave and sickness
- Lead investigations into incidents and complaints, producing reports with conclusions and recommendations for improvement
- Ensure staff adherence to national, regional, and local professional standards, fostering a culture of continuous quality improvement
- Actively participate in multi-disciplinary meetings, representing children and young adults, and advocating for nursing perspectives
- Ensure that staff actively contribute to the assessment of service quality through audit systems
- Work collaboratively within a team environment, engaging with colleagues and other healthcare professionals
- Build positive working relationships with fellow healthcare professionals and lead by example
- Offer expert guidance on strategic service development and clinical policy formation
- Contribute to risk assessments and support corporate governance initiatives where applicable
- Develop and maintain a strong network of nursing partners and stakeholders within the national health and social care sector
- Take a collaborative leadership role in clinical governance, driving audit initiatives that focus on enhancing and improving clinical practices
Required Skills and Qualifications:
Essential
- RGN / RSCN
- Extensive post-registration experience at a senior level
- Proven experience in managing and leading a team
- Expertise in training and mentoring others
- Strong nursing skills with the ability to lead by example and deliver a wide range of interventions
- A proven track record of developing teams and services, and implementing integrated solutions
Desirable
- Leadership/Managerial qualification
- Masters level education or willingness to work towards
- Experience in conducting audits
- Background in palliative care
- Knowledge of Clinical Supervision
- Experience in leading or participating in research projects
- Experience in completing relevant audits
