Sub Agent

The Role:
As a Sub Agent, you will be responsible for the management of small-value civil engineering and construction sites or assist the Site Agent and Project Manager on larger value schemes, to achieve the required project delivery to the customer’s objectives while maintaining standards of health and safety, quality, environmental impact, and cost control.

Key Responsibilities:

Site Management

• Maintain commercial performance of the contract.
• Be responsible for the successful delivery of projects.
• Produce and manage the project programme and supervise the delivery of it.
• Understand and interpret drawings and specifications.
• Provide engineering expertise and support to the project team.
• Ensure all staff, subcontractors, and visitors are properly inducted, meet the competencies required of them, and hold relevant qualifications and tickets.

The successful candidate is likely to meet all the following criteria:

Essential

• Considerable experience in Civil Engineering.
• Working knowledge of NEC contract conditions, CDM regulations, design management, programme and risk management, and cost control including forecasting, actual cost, and value reporting.
• Good knowledge of specifications and testing regimes relevant to general civil engineering.
• Degree/HNC in Civil Engineering, or equivalent.
• CSCS card.
• SMSTS card.
• Full driving licence.

Site Engineer

The Role:
Reporting to the Site Agent, the Site Engineer will take ownership of the survey control for the project and set out detailed works as per the contract drawings, ensuring that checks are made on a regular basis.

Project Manager

The Role:
The Project Manager is to deliver multiple ongoing projects, to the specified quality, the required programme and to the maximum commercial performance. The role also involves working closely with the Estimating Department, site delivery teams and surveyors to ensure that projects are completed in a safe manner, whilst ensuring customer requirements and expectations are always maintained or exceeded.

Key Responsibilities:

General management

• Produce financial forecast, monitoring and controlling project costs and cost reporting, and produce monthly reports to Contracts Manager on project performance, efficient team building and labour organisation.
• Deliver projects from design phase to completion including all handover documentation.
• Review progress, budget resources and forward planning.
• Review work packages and ensure scope of work is clearly defined and understood.

About Us:
KPI Rail and Infrastructure is a trusted provider of rail infrastructure services, delivering essential solutions that ensure the safety and efficiency of rail operations across the UK. We are currently looking for a skilled Authorised Person to join our Isolation Team, responsible for maintaining the highest safety standards during isolation procedures on live rail sites. You will play a vital role in ensuring that all isolations are carried out efficiently and in full compliance with Network Rail's safety regulations.

Role Overview:
As an Authorised Person for the Isolation Team, you will be responsible for overseeing and managing the isolation of railway systems to ensure the safety of personnel working on or near live tracks. You will ensure that the work is carried out in accordance with safety protocols, risk assessments, and the client's requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

• Act as the Authorised Person for isolation activities on rail networks, ensuring compliance with all safety procedures and protocols.
• Issue and manage isolation certificates, ensuring all work is carried out safely and within designated areas.
• Supervise the isolation and de-isolation processes, ensuring that all necessary precautions are taken to protect workers from electrical, mechanical, and trackside hazards.
• Liaise with other rail personnel, including the Control Centre, site supervisors, and engineers, to ensure proper coordination of isolation work.
• Ensure all personnel working within isolation areas have the appropriate clearances and certifications.
• Undertake regular safety checks and audits to ensure adherence to isolation procedures.
• Provide technical support and guidance to teams on-site, helping to troubleshoot and resolve issues related to isolation.
• Maintain accurate records and reports for all isolation activities, including the completion of necessary documentation.

Skills & Experience:

• Authorised Person certification for isolation work in the rail industry (e.g., AP for Isolation).
• Proven experience working on live rail systems in an isolation capacity.
• Comprehensive knowledge of isolation procedures, risk assessments, and safety standards.
• Strong understanding of Network Rail standards and regulations.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple tasks in a time-sensitive environment.
• Strong leadership skills with the ability to direct and support teams on-site.

Desirable:

• Experience with electrical and mechanical isolation procedures.
• Additional qualifications such as COSS (Controller of Site Safety) or ES (Engineering Supervisor) would be advantageous.
• First Aid or other relevant safety qualifications.

 Key Responsibilities:

• Provide pragmatic support and advice to contract and operational teams on site with delivering ecological requirements to programme, budget and quality standard. This includes on-site surveys, inspections and watching briefs, providing practical advice on programme and on-site measures required from the works information.
• Problem-solve, finding practical cost-effective solutions to ecological challenges facing construction teams.
• Liaise with design teams, clients and stakeholders.
• Provide ecological consultancy services to external and internal clients including surveys, mitigation and enhancement design, and on-site support.
• Provide technical support for Biodiversity Net Gain initiatives.

Actively help deliver a culture of continual improvement of on-site ecological practice that is solution-orientated to support construction teams.

Who we're looking for
• Provide pragmatic advice and site support to operational teams on ecological requirements
• Ensure the company environmental management system is maintained in line with changing standards and legislation and liaise with senior team lead on changes required
• Investigate and report ecological incidents
Undertake habitat suitability assessments and protected species surveys.
• Excellent understanding of ecological legalisation for development
• Good level of commercial awareness
• Full UK driver’s licence and flexibility to travel
• Good understanding of environmental management for construction sites
• Excellent understanding of the utilities/construction/engineering operating environment
• Literate in MS Office – Word, Excel, Outlook
• Good interpersonal skills
• Excellent communication skills
• Experience of working on large scale infrastructure construction projects

The following qualities/experience are desirable:
• At least one protected species survey licence
• Bat 2 licence
