KPI's Isolation and Possession Planning Service Goes Nationwide
Rail isolation and possession planning services are being rolled out across the UK by KPI Rail & Infrastructure as the agency diversifies with the appointment of new personnel. KPI’s team is already highly experienced in recruiting and resourcing for key rail and civil engineering projects explained KPI Director Graham Piggott. “Having supplied skilled staff to major upgrade projects such as Carstairs Junction, Nexus Metro and Midland Mainline, amongst many others, the expansion into isolation management and possession planning is a natural progression.
“We understand the importance of detail and structure when it comes to the planning, safety, communication, co-ordination, execution and completion of every project,” added Graham. “KPI’s senior management team is ‘hands-on’, and our people have worked on some of the UK’s biggest infrastructure projects with KPI and in previous positions.”
Isolation management
Part of KPI’s team includes key personnel with nearly 50 years of experience in isolation & possession planning. “With our appointment of Mark Butler to head our team in the summer, and more recently Steve Twiby,” said Graham, “KPI has the contacts, experience and knowledge to deliver a comprehensive service which includes Isolation Planning, Management and Delivery, Possession Planning and Worksite Management.
Mark Butler’s rail experience covers nearly thirty years, starting as a nominated person in 1996, moving into Isolation Planning, Delivery & Safety Critical Management before working as Isolation Operations Manager over the last 10 years. Steve Twiby is KPI Rail & Infrastructure’s Isolation Specialist having worked on the railway for over 24 years. Steve started his career in rail construction then moved onto isolations, working throughout the country on various projects. Steve now dedicates most of his time to isolation & safe work planning.
KPI’s service includes isolation & possession planning and the recruitment of associated staff experienced in isolations, overhead lines, safety critical roles and skilled trades.
Rail training & cross-skilling
“KPI’s focus is on working collaboratively with our key partners,” said Graham, “to drive efficiencies and bring a new generation of people into rail. And with training and cross-skilling, I believe we can retain the talent in the industry and keep people in work.” KPI will continue to work on the Central Rail Systems Alliance (CRSA) and Network Rail isolations services with partners such as SPL Powerlines, Keltbray, Van Elle, ReadyPower, Barhale amongst others.
