Empowering Future Educators: Teaching Placements with The University of Sheffield
We are delighted to announce that KPI Education have begun working in partnership with the University of Sheffield on an exciting placement/ internship programme that we are finalising this year. Working alongside trusted client schools locally, prospective new schools nationally, and the University of Sheffield Careers & Employability service, we are excited to offer 2nd year university students the chance to complete a year-long placement at a Sheffield school in the capacity of a Teaching Assistant or Academic Mentor.
Benefits of the Program for Students
This scheme offers university students valuable paid work experience within the education sector, as well as networking opportunities, the opportunity to gain certifications in various areas, and a competitive earning potential.
Benefits of the Program for Partnered Schools
Our partnered schools benefit from this scheme also, gaining talented soon-to-be graduates who have a legitimate interest in education, at a greatly reduced cost. Our partnered schools can deploy these candidates in various ways to meet the individual needs of their school. Our hope is that many of these candidates will decide to pursue a career in education after completing their degree, following a positive experience through the placement scheme.
Our Initial Case Study
Currently, we are working with a Sheffield SEN School as a case study, deploying 2nd year Psychology students as Teaching Assistants and Academic Mentors. The opportunities on offer to these Psychology students include networking opportunities with professional Psychologists/Therapists/Senior Leaders; the chance to gain hands on experience with a plethora of Special Needs; on the job training specific to SEN and mainstream education, and a higher employment rate upon graduating.
Expanding to New Disciplines
We are aiming to expand this scheme to include other disciplines within the University of Sheffield including Mathematics, Science, English, Modern Foreign Languages, Humanities and more.
Join Us in Shaping the Future of Education
"This programme is a fantastic opportunity for both university students and schools. By bringing in enthusiastic and knowledgeable students, we’re not only providing them with invaluable experience but also enriching the learning environment in our partner schools. It's a win-win situation: students gain practical skills and schools benefit from fresh perspectives, relief for pre-existing staff and reduced staffing costs," says Andy Zahorodny, our specialist Education recruiter.
